How to Remove Background Noise from Vocals in FL Studio

This guide teaches you how to remove unwanted room noise, fan hiss, or hum from your vocal tracks. You will use the De-noiser tool within Edison for a cleaner result.
Follow these steps
Select a Noise Profile
Double-click your vocal clip and press 'Ctrl + E' to open it in Edison. Locate a section of the recording where only noise is audible.
Capture the Noise Stamp
Highlight that small section of noise, then click the 'Clean up / Denoiser' icon (the toothbrush). Click 'Acquire noise profile.'
Apply the De-noiser
Deselect the small area by double-clicking the waveform, then open the Denoiser tool again. Adjust the 'Threshold' and 'Amount' sliders gently.
Export the Clean Audio
Click 'Accept' once the preview sounds clean. Drag the processed audio back into your Playlist using the 'Drag Selection' icon.
Common mistakes
- Applying too much noise reduction, which creates 'watery' artifacts in the vocal.
- Forgetting to select a 'noise-only' section for the profile, which causes the tool to eat the actual voice.
